In candle making, the pouring temperature of paraffin wax directly affects the smoothness of the surface.
For high-melting paraffin, the ideal pouring range is 185–203°F (85–95°C). At this temperature, the wax has good fluidity and cools to a smooth finish. If poured too cool, shrinkage marks may appear; if too hot, cracks or discoloration can occur. Allowing the wax to cool naturally (not with fans or cold air) helps maintain a glossy surface.
For an extra smooth look, you can top off with a thin layer of wax after the first set, or add a small amount of microcrystalline wax to the formula.
